The noob's guide
Taking his bearings

edition of may 2005 by Fred_the_Killer

Here you are in this game, motivated and ready to engage the fight with the first unit that is going to pass by you, ready to show to everybody that you didn't only come as a tourist but in order to win. However you usually encounter the following problems :
- no opponent in sight
- lots of frames and links everywhere
- a sort of array with some compartments green and some gray (it is a map in fact)
- your units sometimes seems to disapear suddenly (someone killed them but you often don't have the time to realize it)

Well, everybody has one day been a noob (as we affectuously call them), and it has not been very easy to begin. Maybe has you already done your first manouevres in the game, it is a good thing to learn the basics. This guide is more precisely here to help you not to be lost in the different parts of the page, and also to give you some advice. You are going to discover that all those links that lie about form an interface of a great efficacy.

In rest of this document I advice you to go and see the following elements :
- The glossary, that will enable you to learn lots of terms, simple or complicated, and also the abstracts.
- The rules when you'll want to improve your game, because this guide is only the general idea.
- The units characteristics to use them at their maximal potential.

The different parts of the game screen

What is displayed in your navigator looks like this :

Let's slipt up together those differents parts.

The part concerning your section

Here you can find the informations about your section. Nothing really important to notice, except maybe the Warmails.
Indeed, you will have (at least) one Warmail, that is to say a message. One of them, entitled "sponsorship", will give you the name of the person that you are going to be able to bother he signed to bear you :). You can ask him all the questions you have, he will be pleased to answer to them. You also integrate his company.
The "Info+" menu enables you to make appear the information panel in which are the donations to other players, the request for a leave, but also the tricks, the information about the units you have stored and the changing of the aspect of the map.

The part concerning the selected unit

This part contains all the characteristics of the unit : the life and tiredness, but also the AP et lot of other things. You will have 5 Xp to give to each of your units, so use them in a clever way :). The "observations" on the right just near the "rest" action are your events. Only the scouts and the commander see things that do not happen to them. That's why scouts and the major and really important to understand the situation.
It is also on this part that you can make the selected unit move, by clicking on the arrow corresponding to the wanted direction (for the AP cost indicated just after "move").

The part concerning the units you can select

This part will be without a doubt the one you will the most click on. She enables you to go from a unit to another to organize your battle. Don't hesitate to spend a little time on each unit in order to learn their characteristics and capacities :
- the commander : very complete unit who you must at all cost keep alive if you don't want to go back on the HQ or on the company camp with hurt or lost units.
- the Foot soldier : body with body combat unit very strong against cavalery. But pay attention not to let him to much at body with body : the ennemi could answer...
- the jeep : combat unit that is very strong against infantery. Without a doubt the unit the easier to keep alive in all which you own. Pay attention to the ennemy infantery however.
- the moto : scout that for 15 AP can improve its vision of 3 cells, so that you can see the units that stands further or are camouflaged. The strength of the moto : its speed and his big bonus against snipers and all the scouts in general. Its weakness : the other motos ^^.
- the radio : it enables you to keep the informations about the units you see at the moment and the relief. It gathers the sighting off all your unit that get by this way a view of all the cells that the others see. This unit is not made for fighting and so rarely die.
Notice that the selected unit in the frame above doesn't appear in the units you can select.

The map

1st mode                           2nd mode

Existing in two modes (you can change in the "Info+" menu), it enables you to visualize the battle (here my allies are in red, my ennemies in blue and the déserteurs in green). The green cells are those that you see at the moment, but there can be camouflaged units on them, that escape from your vision. The light gray cells are those coming from a radio statement, the older the radio statement is the less effectual the information is. The dark gray cells are those on which you don't have any information.
Not of lot of thing two know, except that by putting your mouse on a cell you will have the content of this cell in a pop-up, and by clicking on a cell the content will be displayed under the map.

Some advice to start properly

1 - You are going to start the game on your future company camp if your godfather has one or on the HQ il he doesn't. In the first case, send him quickly a Warmail and take his radio statement or the one of a high level radio in the surroundings. In the second cas the better is to ask for the way to rejoin the front, because the HQ often is far from the battle (I remind you that it's the unit which make you lose the game if it is killed).
2 - A good unit is a unit that remains/... send his unit hit without foreseeing a return exposes it to a certain death, and obliges you to buy another unit with no experience. You lose then all the benefits of the experience it got.
3 - Look for the support of the high levels : they enable you to protect because your units are less dangerous than his, so you can upgrade yours more easily. Moreover the high levels often have lots of money and don't really need it : don't hesitate to ask for a bit of money if you are short.
4 - Never hesitate to ask a question to our godfather and even on the forum when more players will be able to answer to you. You will probably see that some not-so-noobs will be waiting for the answer.
5 - It is possible that in the begin you often go back to the HQ because your commander has been killed. Don't worry it happened to everybody : keep in mind that you are losing not so good units. The high level lose great units when they die... :)

I think tyou are now ready to give and take your first strikes. Don't hope to kill immediately but with the time, your units becoming stronger et your strategies more acute, you will see that one unit or two can completely change the way of a battle.
